Quick and Dirty Cuppa

Not everyone has the fancy scale, and when traveling it might not be practical to bring all your coffee gear.

What follows is my morning routine which works with a wide range of coffees and roast profiles.

Paper Filter

Coffee:

20g
Between medium and fine on Capresso
Medium-light

Water:

100°C / 212°F
250mL

Equipment:

  1. Assemble Aeropress with paper filter - no need to rinse
  2. Add 1 slightly heaping scoop of freshly ground coffee
  3. Place Aeropress over your mug
  4. Slowly add water fresh off the boil till the water hits the 3
  5. Rinse end of plunger with kettle water and insert just barely
  6. At 2 minutes, swirl gently
  7. At 2:30, begin slow plunge. Proceed past hiss to completion.
  8. Add 2 pieces of ice to dilute and bring coffee to drinking temp quicker.
  9. You’re ready to go!
