Closest thing to Espresso with Prismo

Creator:Vepa Polatov

This recipe is the closest I’ve come to creating a cup that looks and tastes like espresso—and it even has crema!

Using a Prismo, two wet paper filters, dark roast coffee, and a slightly coarser espresso grind (8 clicks on the Timemore C3), this method delivers a bold and rich flavour. Brewed with boiling water, the coffee isn’t very hot, so it’s best enjoyed right after brewing.

Recipe details:

Standard

Paper Filter

Coffee:

20g
Coarser side of Espresso (8 clicks on Timemore C3)
Specialty dark roast / Store-bought medium

Water:

99°C / 210°F
45-50mL
  1. Grind your 20g of beans, set water to boil. Assemble your Aeropress with Prismo, placing two wet paper filters on top of the Prismo metal mesh.
  2. As the water is coming to a boil, dispense your grounds into the Aeropress, and start the timer when the water is ready.
  3. Take the first 30sec pouring the water up to (1) mark, try to wet all the grounds.
  4. Spend the next minute stirring with the Aeropress paddle. Not too aggressive.
  5. Let it sit for the last minute. Once the timer is out, briefly stir once with the paddle.
  6. Place the plunger on top and press very hard, until everything is out.
  7. Voila! Enjoy your coffee! It even has crema!
