This recipe is inspired by the 2021 World AeroPress Championship recipe as well as the iced coffee approach by James Hoffmann. I’ve been experimenting with combining elements from both to create a refreshing and balanced iced AeroPress recipe with high clarity and sweetness.

At the moment, this recipe is still a work in progress. I’m currently testing different grind settings (clicks) and adjusting the steep time to find the balance I like most. Depending on the coffee, grinder, and ice ratio, small changes can make a big difference, so the recipe may continue to evolve over time.

The goal is to create a clean, vibrant iced coffee with enough body and sweetness while still keeping the bright and juicy characteristics that make AeroPress recipes so enjoyable.

Inspired by the 2021 World AeroPress Championship by Toumas Merikanto and James Hoffmann’s iced coffee recipe.

Iced coffee

Uses a 1:15 ratio and includes bypass water. Brings out sweet caramel and chocolate notes from medium roast beans.

I put the total time at 2:30, but, I use different times depending on the beans I am using, varying between 1:30 and 3:00. I encourage you to experiment with different times to see which give you the best results for your taste.

Sweet and Smooth as Velvet

Prismo is a pressure actuated valve designed to be used with the AeroPress® Coffee Maker. 

This attachment allows for a buildup of pressure to create espresso-style coffee and creates a no drip seal for a full immersion brew. The reusable 70 micron etched filter stops sludge in its tracks and eliminates the need for paper filters.  The valve’s small aperture also fits directly over an espresso shot glass.

**Note:**  

Please do not brew with Prismo over thin glass vessels. Prismo creates a great deal of pressure, and glass is fragile!

This recipe aims to get the most out of the juicy honey drying method and maximize this sticky texture whilst keeping a nice acidity. The Prismo helps to extract these deep notes and keeps the workflow clean. It's better to use a paper filter on top of the Prismo's metal one to keep the brew nice and juicy.

A nice and quick recipe for those who enjoy rich, juicy, honey-processed beans.

I use double paper filters for this recipe.

Grind settings:

19-23 clicks on the Commandante seems to be the sweet spot.

This recipe uses the Prismo mainly to avoid using the inverted method and keep the brew neat and tidy as we work. Also, I like to add a paper filter over the Prismo's metal one. It's useful to "block" too many oils, the guys at Télescope Café in Paris use this technique \(and I love their coffee\). 

This is a first shot and is made to be tinkered with and improved.

This is a recipe if you like light, floral water, almost tea-like coffees that have great aromatics.

I was trying to find a good recipe to extract the coffee a little bit more in order to allow more of the cacao/almond notes to show instead of the fruity\-acidic notes you get from faster extractions. I also needed this to get a concentrate and bypass to make 2 cups. 

Overall, the changes I had from my regular recipes were: 2 clicks finer grind than my usual Aeropress grind, some increased agitation, and more extraction time.

This is a recipe I tried with my Aeropress Go to make a concentrate to dilute for 2 rounded flavoured cups.

2 Rounded cups with AeroPress Go

This recipe is for Iced Latte enjoyers looking for a bigger cup \(About 400ml total\), especially for those residing in high\-humidity countries \(I'm from Singapore, 34°C ambient on average\). 

This recipe aims to create a stronger tasting profile, similar to an Espresso Shot, or as close as it can get.

I was frustrated with how stronger brewing recipes would always have such low Coffee output \(40ml\-ish\). I wanted a cold drink that isn't instantly FINISHED within a MINUTE.

The amount of milk, ice cubes and any sweeteners would depend on what you like, so experiment your hearts away until you're satisfied.

- Take your time wiggling the plunger out of the chamber after the first press \(if done too fast could displace the filters, make a mess and ruin the brew \- don't ask how I found out\); you could reinsert the plunger and press a second time just to make sure to get every drop from the first press
- Try to use spouted cups or glasses, make the pouring and mixing less messy and more precise
- Usually mixing 20\-25 grams from the first press gets you where you want to be with flavor, but it's super variable and subjective

Soup shots have become recently popularized by Lance Hendrick on YouTube. I am here to show you a technique to make these without any new gear \- just your AeroPress\!

So what exactly is a soup shot? Think of it as an espresso\-style brew: a tamped, low\-pressure, slow press\-through shot using a slightly higher ratio \(around 4:1 vs 2:1 for espresso\) and a short infusion time. The result is a thick, syrupy, espresso\-like “shot” with incredible body and flavor.

While the name _soup shot_ sounds fitting for the soup\-like consistency, the name SOUP is actually actually an acronym, "Spro\-Only, Un\-Pressurized"

This technique unlocks delicious espresso\-like brews with beans which you may never use in an espresso machine. It brings out the flavors like no other technique, it's truly delicious.

- Grind size: Slightly coarser than espresso
- Filter: 2 paper filters. One at the bottom and one on top of the coffee grinds. Wet the top one slightly, and this one is slightly smaller than the bottom filter, I use a 58mm filter\)

T﻿here are a couple of new techniques from 22's [WAC](https://www.instagram.com/aero.press/) winning recipe that you will find interesting.

Firstly, Jibbi does a double grind for her beans. The first grind is in a very coarse setting s﻿o you can blow out the silver skins easily. After the second grind, she also sifted out the fines to reduce the bitterness that often comes from over\-extracted fines grounds.

S﻿econdly, she used 4 iced chilling balls to cool down the brew at the pressing phase. This will give you a smooth mouthfeel.

The recipe is quite consistent and can be used in all types of coffee beans provided.

Yusuke Narisawa won the 2nd place at 2017 World AeroPress Championships in Seoul, Korea with this recipe.

It's an interesting recipe because he used two kinds of coffee grounds \-  28g coarse grounds and 1.5g very fine grounds. Also, double paper filters have been used to achieve a cleaner cup.

Even though this recipe uses 35g of coffee, that is for two people. If you want to make it a bit less, use 24g of coffee for 100ml of water, and after pressing add around 120ml of water.

" _It is best to choose Kenya coffee for this recipe but all washed coffees with high density will work fine._

_Grind size is a bit coarser than automatic espresso machine. Grind size is not a big deal cause people will have fixed other attributes so when you learn the recipe you should only vary grind size._

_I use 79 celsius water, but it is very important that you preheat all AeroPress parts for least 15 seconds with 79 C temperature_. "

I often need to brew for 2\-3 people and I enjoy the convenience of the small AeroPress Go while travelling so I wanted to develop a recipe that tastes good after dilution and still be somewhat modifiable depending on what you are brewing with. This is a work in progress so I’m very open to critique\!

Two for One

I've done about 30k of these over the years at the Brookfield Farmer's Market near Chicago. We usually have a queue, so it's important to brew fast. This requires a fine grind and rapid bloom suppression. I also generally press four at a time \(I'm 6'6" so I have a long forearm\).

For years I used spunbond polyester filters. In general, I consider polyester a better filtering medium by far than paper. This year I used paper again, as an experiment. This recipe works OK with paper, but better with polyester having a higher flow rate.

Using successive pours and a relatively high water volume means that wash\-through is not so consequential. As some water exits, more is added. This reduces the strength of the brew in the extraction chamber, effectively meeting the basic objective of a high water ratio normally denied the AeroPress by its dimensions.

As for the mini mixer, be sure to use only the plastic stirrer.

The Aeropress XL is relatively new to the market. This recipe is designed to replicate the successful brews that I have had on the Clever Dripper. The Clever Dripper brews in a way that is halfway between a cafetiere and a V60\-02.

The recipe is designed to act as a set of guidelines for successful brewing on the Aeropress XL. This is not a scientific Jonathan Gagne level brew, but can be tweaked according to taste.

Brewing a Clever Dripper style brew with the Aeropress XL.

AeroPress XL - Clever Dripper Style Brew

<div>This recipe will brew about 300mls. Enough for a thermos or to share with a friend. &nbsp;I wanted to achieve a good, even extraction with little fuss. I didn't want to fiddle with a scale, a precarious inverted method, or fumble with creating a vacuum.

It can be brewed with any type of kettle, perhaps a pot, or even a hot water spout at a gas station or convenience store.

What makes the AeroPress so unique and great apart from its ingenious design and compact size, is it creates a cup that is part percolation, part immersion, and part pressurized filter brew with no bypass or gimmicks resulting in a good, clean cup offering outstanding clarity and texture with ease. This technique is designed to be simple and efficient.

I like to use the included AeroPress coffee scoop. Yes I know, *GASP* volumetric measurement may be absurd to some but this technique is about ease and utilizing the tools provided not technical precision (though they both have their merits). I have found the AeroPress coffee scoop to yield ~17 g of speciality, light to medium roast coffee. Maybe less for darker roasts. If using a darker roast try grinding a bit coarser say medium fine or dropping the water temp.</div>

Volumetric AeroPress® for 2 (great for travel or camping)

With this recipe, I developed my favourite way to have an iced coffee. It is a juicy, refreshing, and super aromatic cup.

I would recommend an anaerobic coffee, but it's really up to you what you would like to use. Hope you enjoy it.

Carlos' XL Recipe

An Aeropress brew for two that a couple can enjoy. It's a light (low body) cup of coffee with a very sweet taste and almost no bitterness because of the short brewtime and oversaturation of the decoction.

This is our everyday brew, hybridized from the two WAC winners that we love (2017/2019) for methods, but the brew was too strong for us.

Have never measured with a refractometer for TDS.

This AeroPress recipe was made thinking on the readily available, sometimes almost stale, very dark and cheap roasts. This type of coffee is the one you find at Walmart’s, Mexican supermarkets, etc...

Also, this works with a blade grinder, if like me, you can’t really afford a great burr grinder.

Tasting notes, on the coffee I used, which was Gila Master Blend, are almost banana like, a bit chocolate as well. But a very clean cup and a not so intrusive after taste.

**I use this recipe when I want to get a nice "coffee to go" in my thermomug or when I want to drink a nice cup with a friend.**

I played a little bit around with the ways to control the extraction rate and this recipe was the best result for my personal taste.

I use Yirgacheffe from Coffee Circle \(light roasted\), but I think you can use any type of coffee.

If you want to get more of the flowery flavours out of your light\-roast coffee beans I recommend taking 2 or even 3 of the AeroPress filter papers.

Brew with 2POUR®

This recipe should produce a very smooth, almost like cold brewed iced coffee, but with a thicker, syrupy body.

This is a high volume AeroPress recipe that should produce a balanced and silky cup (or two!) of coffee.

Suggested to use a bright single origin, but blends can also produce good results - experiment and see what works best for you!
