Here are some notes and tips to keep in mind:

- Cut two paper filters to fit inside the Aeropress chamber. Fold them a couple of times and use a circular template to help you. You can rinse and reuse these two auxiliary filters.
- Slightly wet your beans before grinding to reduce clumps and the coffee sticking to your grinder.
- Grind in the range suitable for espresso. Check out the [Honest Coffee Guide grind size chart](https://honestcoffeeguide.com/coffee-grind-size-chart/) for your grinder's sweet spot.
- When grinding, feed the beans into your grinder slowly to decrease particle size dispersion and reduce the fines. This is particularly important if your grinder isn't specifically designed for espresso, otherwise, clogging may occur. If you're using a hand grinder, tilt it sideways while grinding.
- Shake the grounds to distribute them evenly. Just pour them into the chamber, cover it, and give it a good shake.
- Keep a constant pressure on the piston while pressing.

Now, here's a heads up: you won't get any foam or crema. But don't worry, the magical flavor will make up for it.

The discovery of espresso excellence: with this AeroPress recipe, I've achieved a flavor profile remarkably close to that of a traditional portafilter espresso, complete with a lush crema. The key is in the choice of coffee beans. I prefer dark roasts like Tre Forze or Berserk. 

As for grind consistency, I trust my Comandante C40 MK4, which is set at 8 or 9 clicks. And if you're aiming for an even finer setting, the red clicks at around 8.5 might be just the ticket.

Hello, my name is Marek and I am from the Czech Republic. My English is not very good, so hopefully it will be understandable :\). 

The recipe is purely experimental. I am a hobbyist and new to using an AeroPress and drinking filtered coffee. I wanted to try some espresso\-like recipe. For this recipe, I used Ethiopia Sidamo coffee from a roaster in the Czech Republic. I enjoyed the coffee using this recipe so I decided to share it.

It is a standard recipe uusing 14 grams of coffee, 60 ml/85 degrees water and fast pressure. Quick and short.

An interesting thing I've tried here is using a combination of a paper and metal filters. I used the standard method of inserting a metal filter between two paper filters. It occurred to me that if I use a combination of paper and metal filter, I can get a little more pressure through the filters. The reason why the metal filter is in the middle is that the AeroPress is easier to clean. When cleaning, you first tear off the paper filter from the bottom, then take a clean metal filter and finally push the rest into the trash.

Vietnamese iced coffee \(Cà Phê Sữa Đá\) is known for its sweetness and complexity from its one secret ingredient: sweetened condensed milk.

This recipe recommends using a dark roast coffee with a smoky characteristic \(the author uses Hayes Valley Espresso from Blue Bottle\).

Try to use a brand of condensed milk from an Asian supermarket \(e.g. Longevity Sweetened Condensed Milk\).

Recreating the famous Vietnamese iced coffee with an AeroPress is easier than you think!

Vietnamese Iced Coffee

Whilst trying some espresso\-style AeroPress recipes I casually found a nice Moka\-pot style coffee, which is really quite indistinguishable from a good Moka Pot technique. It's not burned, which is good, since in Italy nearly everyone burns its coffee with a Moka Pot, making it quite bitter.

The coffee is quite strong \(but not like espresso, obv\) and I think, with some tinkering, it could be made more enjoyable.

- This recipe works for 2 doses. I think you can make more servings \(max 4, or 3 on an AeroPress go\) by adding half a spoon of coffee for every serving.
- You may also use a Moka filter or a shower screen, but it's not strictly needed

I did in no way, shape or form invent this recipe nor do I take any credit. This is just a fusion of different recipes I've tried and what has gotten me the results I was looking for.

It's truly simple. Two paper filters \- one under the grounds, one on top of the grounds. No stirring is needed. _Press as hard as you can_. Voilà\!

**P\.S.** The water temperature range is for the different levels of roast \- 80°C for very dark roast, and then the lighter the roast, the higher the temperature.

**Pro tip:** If it is too hard to plunge, coarsen up the grounds.

A quick but not so 'easy' espresso that requires some muscle work.

My first shots with Prismo were a bit too bitter and sludgy. After a few tweaks, I came with a clean and thick cup. 

I use a medium\-dark roast, so the aromatic profile is closer to cocoa, with relatively low acidity. You can try medium and light roasts for a zesty shot\!

After several recipes of "concentrated coffee" with AeroPress trying to make a quasi\-espresso, I was not wholly satisfied. Based on my two favourites \([Tim Wendelboe's](https://aeroprecipe.com/recipes/tim-wendelboe) and [James Hoffmann's](https://aeroprecipe.com/recipes/james-hoffmann)\) I decided to make my own, using the quarantine time to improve it everyday I was at home.

This recipe can be easily adapted for darker or lighter roasts by adjusting the grind size: Finer for lighter roast, eg. 4 clicks on a Hario; Coarser for darker roasts, eg. 8 clicks on a Hario. This way it does not over/under extract.

**The result is an AeroPress espresso recipe that:**

- Does not use a lot of coffee grounds
- Is easy to remember
- Produces enough coffee for an expresso, or a latte
- Can be adapted to tastes and different roasts

James Hoffmann's AeroPress recipe for making a good milk based coffee at home.

Using a modified Aeropress plunger seal, I was able to get a rich, syrupy, esspresso-like flavor. Other Aeropress espresso recipes have similar strength to espresso, but seem to lack the complexity of a real shot. The donut seal is used to maintain the tamp when pouring water into the cylinder, and ensure complete separation of water and grounds until you begin pressing.

Keep in mind your Aeropress still needs a plunger seal on the end. So buy a new one and replace the old seal on your plunger, so you can modify the old seal.

This recipe uses a metal filter in the Aeropress cap and a paper seal above the grounds and below the donut seal.

Experiment with the grind, tamp, and water amount to get your desired strength and extraction. These parameters will also determine how much force you need to apply, and/or how long the extraction takes.

You will have to push quite a bit harder than a normal Aeropress recipe, so make sure your cup is sturdy (I use a stainless mug) and on a stable surface. Be careful when pressing so the cylinder and cup do not fly out.

**To modify the plunger seal**: Using an Exacto knife, or other sharp blade, cut a round opening in the center of the seal. Leave the flared outside edge intact. The opening in the center should be large enough to prevent channeling water through the center of the puck, without leaving the seal too thin/flexible to stay in place. Be careful not to cut yourself!

How to make Espresso with an Aeropress \- there are many different opinions on how best to do this. I've tried all of them. The most important concept when it comes to espresso is pressure, and there's only one way to make pressure with an Aeropress.

The method I use for making an 'espresso' with the Aeropress is simple but leaves room for adjustments and experimentation. How long you 'pre\-infuse' \(or bloom\) your coffee will have an impact. Whether you decide to do this inverted or not will have an impact. Whether you use a metal screen or not will have an impact. In the end, the most important thing is that you are using high pressure and a fine grind.

This AeroPress recipe uses a paper filter, but I urge you to try with a metal filter too if you have one.

Yeah we know the AeroPress isn't made for espresso BUT these recipes will get you close.

AeroPress espresso

A recipe that you can make daily to produce a balanced cold cup with a round body.

I use a dose of **11 grams**. For the grind setting, I aim for **medium to fine**, or **11 clicks** on the **Timemore C3s Pro**. The water I use is **100 grams** at **90 degrees Celsius**, and **100 grams** of ice cubes.

For a **lighter roast**, I recommend using **96 degrees Celsius** water, and grinding it even finer, about **9 clicks** on the **Timemore C3s Pro**. However, for a **darker roast**, use **85 degrees Celsius**, and grind it coarser, about **13 clicks** on the **Timemore C3s Pro**.

Feel free to double this recipe if you want to brew for two people at once.

Analog Coffee YYC AeroPress Recipe

This recipe is trying to surf the edge between over\-extraction and getting the most intense flavor out of the bean. With all the recipes I liked so far I had to dial down on the amount of water, I suppose I am not a fan of the subtle, mild, and gentle flavors. Hence, this recipe.

**The grind is on the coarser side of fine, 15 clicks on the Commandante C40. **I actually used a metal filter over a paper one for fun, but a double or single paper is ok, up to your preference.

My friends were begging me to make an Espresso Martini for them at home since they keep seeing my AeroPess videos on social media, plus they know how much I am into coffee. So I've decided to make one for them with limited tools I have with my trusty AeroPress leading the way.

After tasting, reading, observing and listening to so many recipes, I have made this modification by adding and subtracting grams, using the standard and inverted position, with less and more milk, I got to this point, which for me has been pleasant.

I often need to brew for 2\-3 people and I enjoy the convenience of the small AeroPress Go while travelling so I wanted to develop a recipe that tastes good after dilution and still be somewhat modifiable depending on what you are brewing with. This brewing method works best to bring the boozy-nectary sweetness from natural (or) honey-processed coffees. In fact, as someone who is fairly new to brewing coffee at home, it was while using this method that I first tasted the 'nectary-sweetness' in coffee and discovered it was way different from the 'sugary-sweetness' that I usually associated the taste of 'sweetness' to.

**<u>Dialing it in</u>**

No two coffees are the same; thus, there is room for adjustment when dialing in using this method. I've found the adjustment is best done in **Grind Size** and **Brew Time** while keeping the water temperature, amount of coffee, and the amount of water constant.

Nanyang coffee is a traditional coffee beverage found in Southeast Asia. The roasting process and preparation technique involves a variation of the Torrefacto method: butter and sugar are added to the beans.

You can buy the traditional beans online but be warned: you have to clean your grinder after every use to avoid damaging it. I instead use regular coffee beans or pre\-ground coffee to skip this hassle.

Nanyang coffee varies in style. Kopi C is one such variation and is composed of the following ingredients:

- Coffee
- Evaporated milk
- Sugar

**Slow Pressing is Key:**

- The pressing motion is crucial for achieving an even extraction with the Aeropress. It's important to press gently and consistently. Avoid pressing too hard, as this can cause over\-extraction due to uneven flow. Aim to finish the press just before it starts making a hissing sound.
- Using a paper or metal filter can help reduce the risk of side leaks towards the end of the brew when applying more pressure.

T﻿his is the winning AeroPress recipe by Jibbi Little of Australia from the 2022 World AeroPress Championships, held in Canada.

T﻿here are a couple of new techniques from 22's [WAC](https://www.instagram.com/aero.press/) winning recipe that you will find interesting.

Firstly, Jibbi does a double grind for her beans. The first grind is in a very coarse setting s﻿o you can blow out the silver skins easily. After the second grind, she also sifted out the fines to reduce the bitterness that often comes from over\-extracted fines grounds.

S﻿econdly, she used 4 iced chilling balls to cool down the brew at the pressing phase. This will give you a smooth mouthfeel.

- D﻿ouble grind: 1st grind very coarse with Timemore; 2nd grind setting 4 with Kinu Classic \(around medium\-fine\); If you use washed process, grind slightly finer

2019 Irish AeroPress Championship - 1st place

I crafted this recipe for the 2019 Canadian National Aeropress competition.

It intentionally makes use of some room temperature water in a creative way to bring the cup down to drinking temperature quickly for judges to taste.

It'll work at home too and allow you to drink it right away!

Championship Cold Water Bypass

A wonderfully simple and delicious aeropress recipe, utilizing a quick pour and steep time but with a long 60 second press.

This recipe is even better when used with an Aesir filter or 2 aeropress filters!

Straight from the World AeroPress Championships in London, here is the 2019 2nd place recipe, which uses a Pacas variety bean produced by Orlando Aguilar from El Salvador; roasted by Ozone Coffee Roasters in London.

Benja's delicious recipes has a 'pre-bypass', adding 110g of water into your server which you then press into.

If you are using a Commandante grinder, Benja recommends about 30 clicks for best results with his recipe.

The 2014 WAC winning AeroPress recipe by Shuichi Sasaki of Japan.

2014 WAC: 1st Place

Yusuke Narisawa won the 2nd place at 2017 World AeroPress Championships in Seoul, Korea with this recipe.

It's an interesting recipe because he used two kinds of coffee grounds \-  28g coarse grounds and 1.5g very fine grounds. Also, double paper filters have been used to achieve a cleaner cup.

Paulina 'Panda' Miczka's winning AeroPress recipe from the 2017 World Aeropress Championships in Seoul, Korea.

Even though this recipe uses 35g of coffee, that is for two people. If you want to make it a bit less, use 24g of coffee for 100ml of water, and after pressing add around 120ml of water.

**2015 WAC Winning AeroPress recipe by Lukas Zahradnik from Slovakia.**

Lucas has provided us with some great, precise instructions for his championship winning AeroPress recipe, as quoted below (some of the detail below is missing from the video, so it's important to read):

" _It is best to choose Kenya coffee for this recipe but all washed coffees with high density will work fine._

_Grind size is a bit coarser than automatic espresso machine. Grind size is not a big deal cause people will have fixed other attributes so when you learn the recipe you should only vary grind size._

_I use 79 celsius water, but it is very important that you preheat all AeroPress parts for least 15 seconds with 79 C temperature_. "

It is also important to divide the extraction into 2 parts - this is outlined in the steps below.
